Welcome to the course. This course will be usefeul to anyone intersted in preparing for the exams. In this course, there will be 26 sessions of four hours each to prepare you for the Anglais des affaries exams.
The following is a summary of the syllabus:
The principal topics that will be covered are as follows:
- Finance (Sessions 2,3,4)
- Accounting and Auditing (Sessions 5,6,7)
- Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility (Sessions 8,9,10)
- Information Systems and New Technologies (Sessions 11,12,13)
- Management, Human Resources and Strategy (Sessions 14,15,16)
- Production (Sessions 17,18,19)
- Marketing (Sessions 20,21,22)
Sessions 23, 24, 25 and 26 will be dedicated to revision and mock exams. This course counts towards 15 ECTS. Preparation is of the utmost importance.

About the exams. Objectives- to be able to construct a structured analysis; to be able to express yourself correctly in English; to be able o defend your point of view; effectively use business English vocabulary; be able to integrate your knowledge of current events in your expression.
Duration of the oral exam: Preparation time 1 hour. Exam 30 minutes. In the 30 minutes, the candidate will have to spend the first 15 minutes presenting their topic. The candidate speaks without interruption. In the second part, the candidate will have to interact with the jury by answering their questions about the topic.
Épreuve n° 6 : Anglais des affaires
Nature : épreuve orale.
Cette épreuve comporte une préparation d’une heure sans autres documents que ceux qui sont fournis avec
le sujet. Les documents sont en anglais. Dans un premier temps, le candidat doit présenter en anglais
l’exposé qu’il a préparé, structuré à partir d’une question sur un thème en relation avec le document. Dans un
second temps, un entretien, portant sur le sujet, est mené en anglais.
Durée : 30 minutes hors préparation (exposé : 15 minutes maximum ; entretien en anglais : 15 minutes
maximum).
Coefficient : 1.

As with every exam, your biggest adversary is time. Therefore, to be able to manage your time effectively, you need to be prepared. This can be achieved by a lot of practice. You should be reading and following the current affairs in the world on a daily basis.
In this course, you will get to improve your reading comprehension speed. Develop strong arguments, prepare an analysis, speak confidently and coherently and answer questions confidently.
We will follow the topics from the official bulletin as well as current events, case studies and corporate scandals. We will look at the annual reports of companies and acquire a wide range of vocabulary that will not only be useful for your exams but also for your future career in accounting and finance.

Practice exercise 1

Read the article five times. Note down the number of minutes you took to read each time. You have one hour to prepare your 15 minute analysis of the article. Once you are ready, record it and email me the audio file. Step one is to read the artcile the and check how much time it takes. Note down your best and worst time. Keep a record of this so that you can notice if you are improving your reading speed as you progress through the course. Step two read the article again and check your time. Identify the key words in the article and the words that you find difficult. What is the article about? Create a map of the article to better analyse it. Structure your analysis. More details will be provided during the class.
